Portsmouth VA property management : Small town property management

Landlords involved in Portsmouth VA property management are often left with very few choices as far as selecting a suitable property manager is concerned.
A property manager must be reliable, competent and responsive at all times. But in small towns the choice in this aspect may be highly limited. For example, there may be real estate investors who may select a small town where there may be plenty of job opportunities. As a result the demand for housing is certain to be high but there may be limited choice as far as property management firms are concerned.
Often, the property manager may quit and the new one might not be very competent: he might be slow in responding to tenant issues and investors might start to complain that he is slow in paying them. Vacancies might not get filled quickly and in general the manager is doing a poor job in all aspects of property management.
Things can slowly start getting worse as time passes: landlords can get overcharged for repairs and maintenance and out-of-town owners might be told that the property is vacant (when actually it is filled).
The only solution to such problems is to get a new property manager. Unfortunately when you are dealing with a small town with limited choices, this might be easier said than done!
