KRS Holdings - Sunday, February 28, 2016
Landlords must take the necessary precautionary measures to feasibly prevent harm toward residents. The knowledgeable and experienced professionals at Virginia Beach property management recommend that landlords use these basic measures to give residents peace of mind.
  • Locks - Windows and doors should have proper functioning locks. Dead-bolts are highly recommended for external doors and the lobby area.
  • Peepholes - These should be installed on front doors and should provide a wide enough view for the resident to see on the other side. Fish eye lens are good since they provide the resident with a wide field of view while being kept mostly unseen.
  • Exterior Lighting - Motion and photo sensor lights are good options for the perimeter of the buildings. Dark walkways and entrances should be well lit.
  • Interior Lighting - Depending on the type of building interior lighting is just as critical as exterior lighting. Lobbies, foyers, dark corridors, stairways, covered parking garages, and hallways should be well-lit.
  • Cameras -These can be placed at strategic points inside and outside of the premises. The monitoring system can be set up in such a way to record and play back.
  • Security Alarm System - Once there is unauthorized access, a number of predetermined personnel or agencies can be immediately alerted.
